Do I need a Raumfeld Base?

A Raumfeld Base is only required in a multi room system. If you would only like to play music in a single room you only need a Raumfeld playback device and a controller (Raumfeld Controller or Raumfeld App for your smartphone).

Role of the Raumfeld Base

The Raumfeld Base serves your system as an access point and music serv

• By creating a dedicated Wlan network it provides the bandwidth to enjoy music in more than two rooms at a time.
• With the integrated 160GB hard disk and two USB 2.0 ports the Raumfeld Base becomes the central storage of your music. You can therefore enjoy your digital music library without running a computer.
• By connecting to your home network the Base is able to access your music stored on a computer or NAS (network attached storage). With the Raumfeld Controller you then have access to your complete digital music library.
• If you own a Raumfeld Base the size of your music library is basically unlimited *. Without the Raumfeld Base, the maximum capacity of your music database is about 25.000 tracks.

* Please note that even with a Raumfeld Base, performance losses may be experienced when the music collection exceeds 125.000 tracks.
